Belonging to the feldspathoid group, this stone has a hardness of 5 to 6 on the Mohs scale.

For millennia, lapis lazuli has been used to make sacred objects, statuettes, amulets and jewels. The most famous deposit of this stone, known as "Sar-e-Sang", is located in Afghanistan. Other deposits are also present in the United States, Canada, and Russia, among others.
